Pop Spots is a blog about those places, primarily in New York City, where interesting events in the history of Pop Culture took place -- like album cover shots, places where movies and tv shows were filmed, and sites on which painting were based.
Some are places I tracked down myself for fun. Others are places I've read about and gone to take a look.
Manhattan is constantly being torn down and rebuilt, and I'm trying to find these places while they are still around.
So If you'd like to comment on one of the entires, please do so. Thank you. Bob Egan, April, 2011

I love this site Bob. I wouldn't have the patience to do that much investigation that you go through. About the "Still Crazy After All These Years" album cover. I thought for sure that you would get a photo while standing on the exact same fire escape. That would have been difficult to do I know. It's not easy to knock on a stranger's door and say "Excuse me, can I go outside your window and take a photo ?"
ReplyDeleteHi Bob, from 10 years later lol. I don't know if you're still around, but the posting about your long search for Paul Simon's fire escape was very interesting. I always assumed all these years that it was maybe his childhood home (imagining his family lived in a NYC tenement or something).
